One of the things that gives us at FloraQueen the most joy about helping people share flowers around the world is being able to help love bloom any day of the year. That’s precisely the story we’ll be sharing today from Michael from Chicago, who is our customer of the month for November.
After meeting his French girlfriend in the States and starting a long-distance relationship, he decided to try and shorten the distance between the two with a romantic rose delivery. Let’s see how it went.
Can you tell us about yourself in a few words?
My name is Michael; I’m 26 years old and living in Chicago. My whole life I’ve been involved in the arts; singing, acting, film. I love to travel, world cuisine, cruising in my car with good music.
Why did you choose FloraQueen?
I ended up choosing FloraQueen because of the reasonable price (especially for international delivery; my girlfriend lives in France), the next day delivery option, and the inclusion of a handwritten note. All of which I ordered right from my phone!
Which bouquet did you choose for your last purchase?
Red roses on a table">
I ordered three red roses. I knew I wanted red roses and the trio was simple yet powerful. (Ed: Michael couldn’t have chosen more perfectly as three red roses are known for signifying the expression “I love you”).
Who did you buy this bouquet for and what was the occasion?
I bought the bouquet for my girlfriend Solène. It was her 25th birthday recently. We met here in Chicago last September by chance; she is French and was travelling through the U.S. on a cross-country trip. We’ve been in love ever since.
What was the reaction of your recipient?
She loved the flowers! Kept one by her bed and proudly displayed the other two on the kitchen table for her roommates to admire.
Do you usually send flowers to your loved ones?
I usually would only buy flowers around the holidays for loved ones. However, being able to send a bouquet so easily to such a faraway lover is amazing. When all we have a lot of the time are WhatsApp calls and letters in the mail, a bouquet makes things feel extra special.
Do you usually keep flowers at home?
I keep flowers around when I can. My life is constantly on-the-go so unfortunately, I don’t trust myself to be a good floral parent. Luckily you don’t have to look too far in Chicago for beautiful displays of flowers. We have the Botanic Garden north of the city which is so beautiful, especially with the autumn colours.
Why do you think flowers are the best way to make someone smile?
The thought, the natural beauty, the fragrance. Flowers light up a room and I think they are the perfect way to add a tangible depth when reaching out to your loved ones. With the addition of a handwritten message, it’s the closest thing I can get to handing them to her myself.
What kind of flowers do you like to receive? What do they symbolize for you?
If I had to say, I would choose Irises. Symbolically they mean so much; hope, passion, wisdom, depending on the colour of course.
What is the one thing you would recommend about FloraQueen over everything else?
The ease of ordering … no matter how far you’re having flowers delivered! I was literally on the train to the airport for a weekend trip. I hopped on my phone for Solène’s birthday roses, ordered the trio, typed the message I wanted to be included with them. The following morning, around 9 a.m. local time in Lyon, France, she got a phone call and a nice lady handed them to her. Simply amazing. Reasonable, efficient, beautiful, fresh and meaningful flowers for the people you love. What more could you want? I won’t shop anywhere else.
We’d, of course, like to thank Michael for sharing his story today. Nothing makes us smile more than knowing we brought two hearts closer together despite being separated by such a great distance.
